The badges
| Badge | What we check | When |
|---|---|---|
| Phone verified | Your phone number received our code. VoIP and disposable numbers are blocked. In the closed beta, our team sends invite codes to your number; redeeming one proves you hold that number. | Now |
| Real person | A live selfie, taken in the app while you make a random gesture we ask for, compared with your profile photos. | Now |
| ID verified | A passport, driving licence or Bangladesh NID compared with your selfie; the name and age must match your profile. | Now |
| Degree verified | A certificate reviewed by our team, or a university email check. | Later |
| Career verified | A work email check, or a payslip or offer letter reviewed and then deleted. | Later |
| Family vouched | A video call between your guardian and our team. | Later (matchmaker service) |
What a badge means — and what it does not
A badge confirms identity signals at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of anyone’s character, intentions or marital status, and:
KobulKabin does not conduct criminal background screenings on its members.
How we check today
- Trained members of our team compare your selfie and your ID side by side, by eye. We do not create face templates or any other biometric data.
- If we later use an automated verification provider, we will name it here and ask for your separate consent before your first check with it.
- We aim to decide within 24 hours.
What we keep
- Your selfie and ID images are encrypted when you upload them, viewable only by the reviewing staff, and deleted 30 days after the review (or 30 days after upload if they are never reviewed).
- We keep the result, the method, who reviewed it, the date and the expiry.
- ID images are never shown to other members, guardians or matchmakers.
If you are not verified yet
- You can browse and send up to 3 interests a day.
- Your profile does not appear in anyone’s daily matches.
- Links in chat stay blocked until both of you are ID verified.
- We never describe unverified members as suspicious — many people verify later, and that is fine.
Verifying again
You will be asked to verify again if you change your name, your date of birth or your main photo, or when a check expires. Until then the badge is lowered.
If a check fails or is unclear
We tell you why — for example the photo was blurred, the document had expired, or the name did not match — and you can try again or send a different document. If you think we got it wrong, use Appeal on the notice; a different member of our team reviews it.
Fake documents
Using a fake, altered or someone else’s document leads to a permanent ban and may be reported to the authorities.
