Guardian mode

Guardian mode: your family can help, you decide

In Bengali families, marriage has always been a family matter. Guardian mode gives parents, siblings and mentors a real, respectful role — while the member always keeps the final say.

অভিভাবকের সহজ পাতার একটি চিত্র (বাংলায়)। এখানে দেখানো মানুষেরা বাস্তব নন।

Three levels, chosen by the member

The member invites a guardian by phone or WhatsApp link and picks what they can do. It can be changed at any time.

  1. 1

    Can view

Sees the member’s daily matches and the interests they have accepted.

  2. 2

    Can view and suggest

Also suggests profiles and keeps private notes for the member.

  3. 3

    Active guardian (wali)

Also sends interests on the member’s behalf and joins chats when invited.

At every level, a guardian never sees private chats unless the member adds them, and can never accept a proposal for the member.

The member is always in control

  • Change or remove at any time

No reason needed. The guardian is told politely: "Sumaiya has updated who helps with her profile. Thank you for your support."

  • Every action is visible

Guardian actions — a suggestion, an interest sent — are written to an activity log the member can see.

  • Help, not pressure

Reports of pressure to marry go in confidence to our trained team and are never shown to guardians.

For parents: creating a profile for your son or daughter

Many parents start the search. KobulKabin lets you — with one important safeguard.

  1. Choose "for my son, daughter or sibling" when you sign up, and fill in the biodata you know.

  2. Share the claim link with them on WhatsApp.

  3. They sign in with their own phone number, take a selfie check, and confirm "I am choosing to marry freely".

  4. From then on the profile is theirs, and you become their guardian with the permission they choose.

Until it is claimed, the profile cannot chat with anyone. A profile nobody claims is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

In chats, nothing is hidden

Either side can add their active guardian to a conversation. Whenever a guardian is there, a banner shows it to both sides, and the member decides whether the guardian sees earlier messages.

Large and simple, Bangla first

  • Large text and buttons

Bigger type, bigger buttons and stronger contrast, by default for guardians.

  • Bangla first

Guardian screens open in Bangla. Any biodata can be read in Bangla, even if it was written in English.

  • One thing at a time

One clear action per screen, few steps, no clutter.

When your wali is not a relative

Reverts, and anyone whose family is not involved, can invite an imam or a mentor as their guardian. Guardian mode is offered and encouraged — never required.

Questions families ask

Can my parents use KobulKabin?
Yes. Invite a parent, sibling or other relative as your guardian and choose what they can do: view, view and suggest, or act as an active guardian (wali). Guardians get their own simple screens with large text, in Bangla by default. See guardian mode.
Can a parent create a profile for their son or daughter?
Yes. But before that profile can chat with anyone, the son or daughter must claim it with their own phone number and selfie check and confirm they are choosing to marry freely. A profile that is not claimed is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.
Can my guardian read my chats?
No. A guardian only sees a conversation if you (or the other person, with their own guardian) add them to it — and when a guardian joins, both sides see a banner saying so.
Do I have to have a guardian?
No. Guardian mode is offered and encouraged, never required, and you can remove a guardian or change what they can do at any time. If your wali is not a relative — for example if you are a revert — you can invite an imam or a mentor instead.
