Questions and answers

Straight answers to the questions members and families ask most about how KobulKabin works.

About KobulKabin

What is KobulKabin?
A marriage app for Bengali Muslims, built around trust and family: verified profiles, a real role for guardians (wali) and privacy each member controls. The name comes from kobul — the "I accept" said at the nikah — and kabin, the registered marriage contract.
Who is it for?
Bengali Muslims aged 18 and over who are looking for marriage, and the parents, siblings and mentors who help them. We are starting with the diaspora in the UK and the US, then Canada and Bangladesh. Reverts marrying into a Bengali family are very welcome.
Is KobulKabin a dating app?
No. It is for marriage only. There is no swiping and no public feed, and nobody can message you until you both accept an interest. Our community guidelines explain what that means in practice.
When can I join?
We are preparing a small, invite-only closed beta, starting with Bengali Muslim communities in London and New York. Join the waitlist and we will send one message when your invite is ready.
Is there an app?
The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon; they are not in the app stores yet. Beta members and guardians can also use the web app at app.kobulkabin.com.
Which languages does it use?
English and Bangla, everywhere. Each person picks their own language, so a parent can read a biodata in Bangla even if it was written in English.

Profiles and privacy

Who can see my photos?
You choose: everyone, verified members only, or only after you both accept an interest (the default for women). Blurred copies are made on our servers, so the full photo never reaches someone who should not see it.
Can I hide my profile from people near home?
Yes. You can hide your profile from chosen countries, cities or Bangladesh districts — for example, your home district — and you can pause your profile at any time.
Will my phone number or email be shown to anyone?
No. Contact details are never shown on profiles, and you never need to share your number to talk to someone. In the first days of a conversation the app warns you if someone asks for it.
Can people take screenshots of my profile?
On most Android phones the app blocks screenshots. iPhones do not allow that, so the app detects a screenshot and tells the other person it happened.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No. We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Read the privacy policy.

Verification

What does "verified" mean on KobulKabin?
There are three badges: Phone verified (your number received our code), Real person (a live selfie matched to your photos) and ID verified (an official ID checked against the selfie, with name and age matching the profile). Each badge says exactly what we checked. See trust and verification.
Do you run background checks?
No. KobulKabin does not run criminal background checks on members, and a badge is not a guarantee of anyone’s character or marital status. Always involve your family and follow our meeting safely tips.
What happens to my ID and selfie?
They are encrypted when you upload them and deleted 30 days after our team reviews them. We keep only the result (for example "ID verified") and its expiry date.

Family and guardians

Can my parents use KobulKabin?
Yes. Invite a parent, sibling or other relative as your guardian and choose what they can do: view, view and suggest, or act as an active guardian (wali). Guardians get their own simple screens with large text, in Bangla by default. See guardian mode.
Can a parent create a profile for their son or daughter?
Yes. But before that profile can chat with anyone, the son or daughter must claim it with their own phone number and selfie check and confirm they are choosing to marry freely. A profile that is not claimed is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.
Can my guardian read my chats?
No. A guardian only sees a conversation if you (or the other person, with their own guardian) add them to it — and when a guardian joins, both sides see a banner saying so.
Do I have to have a guardian?
No. Guardian mode is offered and encouraged, never required, and you can remove a guardian or change what they can do at any time. If your wali is not a relative — for example if you are a revert — you can invite an imam or a mentor instead.

Interests and chat

How does sending an interest work?
You send an interest, with a short note if you like. The other person can accept, choose "Not for me", or ask their guardian to look first. If they accept, a chat opens and blurred photos unlock for both of you. If not, the interest quietly closes after 14 days — nobody is told "no".
How many interests can I send?
On the free plan, 3 a day. Members who are not yet verified can also send 3 a day and do not appear in daily matches. Premium raises the limit (a fair-use cap stops spam). Women can always reply to an interest for free.
What are daily matches?
Each day the app suggests a short list of profiles chosen for both of you: you fit what they are looking for and they fit what you are looking for. Each one shows why it was suggested — for example "both from Sylhet division".

Pricing

How much does KobulKabin cost?
The free plan covers your profile, verification, search, daily matches and chat after you both accept. Premium and Family Plus add more; you can see the planned prices for each country. During the closed beta, Premium is free.
Do women pay to reply?
Never. Replying to an interest is always free for women, on every plan. This is enforced by our servers, not just a promise.
Will I be charged when the beta ends?
No. Beta Premium needs no card and does not turn into a paid plan unless you choose to subscribe. We will tell you before beta Premium ends.
What is the matchmaker (ghotok) service?
A later, paid service: a vetted KobulKabin matchmaker who gets to know your family, verifies family references and arranges introductions, with fixed published fees and no side payments. It is not open yet — you can register your interest.

Safety

What should I do if someone asks me for money?
Do not send it — not by bank, bKash, Nagad, gift card or crypto — and report the profile from the app. KobulKabin and its matchmakers will never ask you for money in a chat. Read scams to know.
What if I am being pressured into a marriage?
You have the right to say no. In the app, choose Report → Pressured into marriage: it goes in confidence to a trained member of our team and is never shown to your guardian or family. You can also contact confidential help in your country right now.
How do I delete my account?
In the app or the web app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Your account and data are erased within 30 days. More detail is on the delete your account page.
